Career Support
This has become an established part of the Herron House Resettlement Programme and has evolved and developed over many years to become a highly successful network of contacts within the Licensed Retail Sector including many National and Regional Pub Operating Companies and Brewers
Your first move into Civvy Street
Herron House has always recommended that the majority of Serviceleavers take 'The Employed Option' at this stage of their careers, and as we actively promote the ethos of 'Continuos Professional Development', by following this Career Path enables you to take advantage of the Training and Development Opportunities made available by many National-and several Regional-Companies to their Employees. These Development Programmes are designed specifically to allow each and every Employee to aspire to their full potential-whether that be to 'Shift Manager' or'Managing Director'. For example, several Serviceleavers who trained with us in 2001/2/3, who have proven themselves as successful General Managers, are now in 'Corporate Roles'; such as Area Manager or Retail Business Manager, Area Training Manager or have moved into HR, Marketing, Customer Services or other support functions within our Industry.
The Career Support Facility has recently reached even greater heights since establishing Our Resettlement Course with 'The Big Boys'(oh! you can't say that..how un PC) We can even give you some idea what to expect at Interview, and how some of the 'Assessments' work.
We offer you The Complete Service. All our 'Graduate' can access assistance with:
- Applications
- Business Plans
- Recruitment Procedures
- References
- Promotion Interviews
- Further Training Opportunities
- And for the self-employed - a helping hand with your Business Plan and advice on how to Handle Rent Negotiations - 'without taking prisoners'.
Career support is free and available to you indefinitely. As you may not be discharged for several months after your course, the Career Support Service is available when you need it. We are still helping past students with their careers one, two, three, four and five or more years down the line
