Award Winning Residential Resettlement Course

This four week residential resettlement programme combines two weeks of classroom study sandwiched with two weeks of work experience and work based learning activities.

The Qualifications

The British Institute of Innkeeping National Certificate or Scottish Certificate in Licensed Retailing: This comprises of the National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (or Scottish equivalent) and the Introduction to Licensed Retail Operations Certificate.

The Royal Society for the Promotion of Health: Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

The Licensed Retail Diploma - our own Diploma which states the entire course content, and, as Herron House holds two National Innkeeping Awards and 2 National Training Awards - this is not just another piece of paper!

In addition to the National /Scottish Certificate in Licensed Retailing syllabus you will be covering certain subject areas in greater depth, thus placing you at an advantage over other applicants who have attended courses less comprehensive.

Work Experience Placement

This is without doubt the most important part of the Course where you will be gaining valuable practical experience 'in the field' - it is also an Industry Requirement that all new entrants looking towards a 'Supervisory Role' in Hospitality Management possess Relevant Experience:many National Employers have agreed to accept our Work Experience Module as evidence of this requirement. We do try to 'Match You Up' with the style of Business best suited to your Initial Career Objective and Personality.

All our Training Houses are run by 'Experienced Opertators' who have been involved in Resettlement Training for several years:and most are within 'Staggering Distance' - only joking - of The Greaves Hotel.

Examination

The National/Scottish Certificate in Licensed Retailing is an externally marked, ‘closed book’ exam in two parts

PART 1 - The National or Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders is taken in the early part of the course - so if you do not pass first time and 99% do, we will have time to arrange a resit for you whilst you are still here. This part of the course covers the law and social responsibilities. The exam comprises 40 Multiple Choice Questions of which you only need to score 28 correct answers to pass.

PART 2 - The introduction to Licensed Retail Operations Certificate is a forty question multiple choice paper with questions being taken from the thirteen units of the syllabus.

Royal Society for the Promotion of Health - Basic Food Hygiene Certificate - this nationally recognised qualification is awarded following a simple multiple choice question paper.

You will also be taking a ‘mock’ exam prior to doing the real thing, so we still have time to tutor you on any subject areas that you may need help with.
